On April 5, Seung Youn Kim, chairman of Hanwha Group, visited the headquarters of Hanwha Robotics in Pangyo, where he reviewed the current status of robotics technology and encouraged the employees. Hanwha Robotics, a robotics subsidiary of Hanwha Group, officially launched in October last year to preempt the robotics industry, which is considered a future-leading sector. The company, which first introduced its flagship product, collaborative robots, in 2017, has led the market by continuously releasing various advanced technologies based on these robots. According to Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the global robotics market is expected to reach 351.6 trillion Korean won by 2030.

“Develop differentiated, innovative robotics technologies that are considered as key drivers of the Hanwha Group’s advanced future”

Following his visit to the Hanwha Aerospace R&D campus in Daejeon in March, Chairman Kim visited Hanwha Robotics. Vice President Dong Seon Kim, who manages Hanwha Robotics' strategic planning, accompanied him. Chairman Kim spent significant time at the research lab, where new technologies are being developed, engaging in discussions with the employees about the current status of technological development and the prospects of the robotics industry.

“Collaboration between humans and robots is a natural and common trend," Chairman Kim remarked. He urged the company to "continuously develop differentiated, innovative technologies that can lead the market." He emphasized the importance of the robotics business within the group, stating, "Robots are a critical business driver for our group among the advanced industries. Employees’ responsibilities at Hanwha Robotics are vital for the group's growth."

Communicate with MZ employees over a “Hamburger lunch” taking selfies and responding to autograph requests

Chairman Kim opted for a more relaxed interaction by having a hamburger lunch with employees in their 20s and 30s, known as the Millennials and Generation Z. The burgers served were from “Five Guys,” which was introduced to Korea last June under Vice President Kim's initiative. The popular “burgers went viral” elicited applause from the young employees.

When a researcher in their 30s expressed hope to see Hanwha-made robots in unmanned kitchens nationwide, Chairman Kim responded, "Please make it happen; I'm looking forward to it." After the meal, Chairman Kim happily signed autographs on Hanwha Eagles uniforms and mobile phones and gave those to the employees.

Jieun Heo, a researcher who attended the lunch, said, "It was impressive to see Chairman Kim inspecting various parts of the lab and carefully listening to staff’s voices. We will work hard on technological development to ensure Hanwha Robotics achieves significant success in the global robotics market."

“The ultimate goal of robotics technical innovation should be to improve the quality of human life”

Chairman Kim emphasized that "the ultimate goal of robotics innovation should be to enhance the quality of human life" and he stressed that Hanwha's technology should play a positive role in daily life. Hanwha Robotics plans to showcase progressive technologies in domestic and international markets, including AI vision smart solutions, industrial automation solutions for patrol, security, and welding, as well as food tech solutions utilizing collaborative robots. Recently, the company has secured several overseas contracts in the United States and Europe, recognizing its competitiveness in the global market.
